The military had a significant role in the history and development of London over the centuries. The 63rd (West Suffolk) Regiment is but one regiment and it was stationed in London from 1862 to 1864. This British Infantry Regiment has a storied past, some of which is recorded on their magnificent Regimental Banner. The quilted banner, in Regimental colours, demonstrated allegiance to Her Majesty as well as recording memorable battles, adages and mottos that gave the Regiment its unique personality.
