Historically, beauty salons and barbershops have enjoyed a special place in our hearts and that is particularly the case in the Black community.  Within these business establishments there is a relaxed atmosphere that fosters honest conversations about current events and other issues of concern. Many personal friendships have been forged in these salons. Over time, they have become known for being a positive space where the Black community, both young and old can share their experiences and connect with others.

Hyacinth Henry is a Jamaican-born entrepreneur and hair stylist. She opened Glamorous Touch in 1998, at a time when very few salons in London, Ontario could meet the unique needs of people with Black and curly hair. Today, Glamorous Touch is one of this city’s premier Afro-Canadian hair salons, offering services in hair braiding, extensions and weaves,  wigs, styling, colouring, and cutting.
